Meet Our Principal

Dear Ballantyne Elementary School Community,

I am honored to have been selected as the new principal of Ballantyne Elementary.  Ballantyne Elementary has an outstanding reputation of hard work and excellence.  I am excited to now be a member of the Ballantyne Bear Team.

summerkids.pngI wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.  I am originally from Canton, North Carolina.  I have been in Charlotte since 1999. My family built a house about a year ago and currently live in Fort Mill, SC.  I've been married to my husband, Dean, for 11 years.  We have a five year old boy named Tanner who will be starting Kindergarten and a nine year old girl named Haley who will be starting the fourth grade this year.  In my spare time between work and being a mommy, I enjoy reading, running, and being on the lake. I am also a baseball and softball parent and enjoying attending games and cheering for my kids.

I have always loved school.  I have been an educator in CMS for over 18 years.  I actually started teaching in CMS before I even graduated from college.  I have had many amazing opportunities in the district that have helped me grow into the learning and instructional leader I am today.

I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University with a K-12 Reading Certification.  I also received my National Board Certification in Literacy. I have been a fourth grade and a sixth grade teacher.  I have been a literacy and an academic facilitator. I love to continue to learn and grow as an educator so I applied and was accepted into the Leaders for Tomorrow program through Winthrop University earning my degree in Educational Leadership.  This led me to be an Assistant Principal for 5 years. I am so excited now to begin the next chapter of my career as the Principal of Ballantyne Elementary School.  This is truly a dream come true.

Since the day I was named Principal of Ballantyne Elementary School, everyone from parents, to teachers, to students have been so welcoming.  Excitement is in the air! I truly believe by working together as a team, Ballantyne will continue to be one of the best schools in CMS.

I am proud and honored to be serving Ballantyne Elementary School Community and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  I am proud to be a Bear!
