North Carolina law requires students entering 7th grade to have a Tdap booster (to protect against tetanus,

diphtheria, and pertussis or whooping cough) and a dose of Meningitis vaccine by the first day of school. 

Most of children have met the requirement of the Tdap last year as the state hachanged the requirement

from 6th to 7th grade, effective July 1, 2015.  However, the Meningitis vaccine is a new requirement. If your

child has already received these vaccines, please make sure the school has the record as proof of immunization. 

If your child has not received these required vaccines, or if you are not sure, please contact your doctor or health

care provider as soon as possible to obtain this information.  You can also contact the Mecklenburg County Health

Department for an immunization appointment at 704-336-6500.  Please submit these records to the school as

the vaccines are obtained. Parents must provide proof of immunizations within 30 days of school entry or your

child will be excluded from school until these records are submitted.  If you have any questions or need assistance,

please contact the school.  More information on community locations for immunizations is available on the CMS
