All CMS students were required to complete a Digital Citizenship course in Canvas. The courses were developed to teach students how to be responsible citizens in a digital world. CMS has created a course for each grade level to complete. Each course contains videos and questions that students are asked to work through. If you would like to see what lessons your child has been working on please click on the link below.

New Student Enrollment:  To enroll a student at Ardrey Kell High School, you must have an address that falls within the AKHS boundary lines AND present the following documents:  3 proofs of residency (which you can find on the CMS website), original Birth Certificate, and the Immunization Record Transcript from your child's previous school.  Your child will not be registered until all of these documents have been presented.  If you have any questions, please contact Maureen Sanborn or access the CMS Website.

Parent Portal Guide/How to For Parents

CMS provides ParentPortal, a user-friendly Web application to help parents and families become more involved in their children’s educational journey. Parents can check their child’s homework assignments, attendance reports and grades from any computer at any time.  The program allows for easy communication between parents and teachers. It also allows parents to update their child’s personal information and family contacts. ParentPortal is available to parents of all CMS students.

If you do not have your child's access ID and password, your existing log-in fails, or you have forgotten your password, please email your child's counselor.  ParentPortal Reference Cards are available on the School Resources page of the AK website under the General category.

**How to View Historical Grades in ParentPortal**  If you click on the Grades and Attendance link (on the left), you should be able to see alpha and numeric grades for all classes for each quarter.  Click on a letter or number and it will open a window with all of the assignments and grades for that quarter.  If you click on the hyperlinked number under Absences and Tardies (far right side of page), it will show you which date(s) your child was absent/tardy.

In addition, on the Grade History page, you should be able to click on any of the numbers under the % column to see the individual class grades for each quarter.

College Redirection:
Seniors who have been denied admission may be interested in college redirection. Go to The College Redirection module allows denied applicants who have not been accepted into their school of choice to be recruited by colleges they may not have considered; it allows NC colleges seeking to fill admissions openings to prospect from a pool of interested, qualified candidates.

CoreCourse GPA:
Ardrey Kell High School is making the CoreCourse GPA available to all AKHS student-athletes and their parents/guardians free of charge.

If your child has aspirations of competing athletically as a freshman at an NCAA Division I or Division II school, they must meet NCAA Initial-Eligibility minimum standards, including core course GPA and SAT/ACT test score requirements. is an innovative tool that allows you to easily track your son or daughter’s progress towards meeting these requirements, beginning as soon as their first semester of their freshman year.

The NCAA published the new DII SAT/ACT sliding scales for full and partial qualifiers. These new sliding scales are part of the changes announced in January for the class of 2018, which also include an increase in the minimum core course GPA to 2.20. The sliding scales replace the current static standards of an 820 on the SAT or 68 sum score on the ACT.

The DII changes are separate and unrelated to the DI changes for the class of 2016, which are already impacting current freshmen and sophomores.

Their software will be updated to reflect the new DII standards which begin with our incoming freshmen this fall.
