The Scholastics Art & Writing Awards for 2019 were announced last week (drum roll please…) 11th grader, Natalie Tyson won a National Silver Medal in the Drawing & Illustration category for her Work titled, Me. Receiving a National Medal places Natalie in the top 1% of all submissions... Congratulations Natalie!

A BIG Shout out to the Men’s Tennis Team for an amazing victory over Providence last night. Singles winners were Jonathan Lee, Krishna Kartha, and Brendan O’Malley and the dynamic duos were Carter McCleary and Krishna Kartha at #2 and Jacob Anthony and Rishi Sandanadan at #3. It was a great TEAM Effort.  Good luck tonight against Olympic!

Congratulations to all HOSA students that attended the State Leadership Conference, placing in the Top 10 were Anushka Kulkarni, Saahithi Suryadevara, Madhura Manjununath and David Taback.  Qualifying to attend the International Leadership Conference this summer were Sam Bundy in 3rd place and Samhitha Vellala in 1st place. Great job, knights!

This past weekend, AK MCJROTC participated in the Drill Meet at Sun Valley High School. They placed in the following events:  2nd Place in Armed Platoon, 1st Place in Unarmed Platoon, 2nd Place in Varsity Color Guard, 2nd Place in 1st Year Color Guard, 2nd Place in Armed Squad, 1st Place in Unarmed Squad, 1st Place in 1st Year Unarmed and 2nd Place Overall.  Way to go, knights!

The outdoor track team competed at the Marvin Ridge Invitational on Saturday.  Top performances included: Jamier Moten and Lenah Proctor in the 400m, Murphy Smith in the 2 mile, Asa Simmons, Will Daniels and Carson Varner in the 110 hurdles, Trinity Butcher and Alden Cooper in the 100m hurdles, Asa Simmons and Trinity Butcher in the 300 hurdles, Ben Franz in the high jump, Gracier Gardner in the discus, Zahria Cousin in the triple jump and the women’s 4x400 and 4x800 teams.  Great job, knights!

Congratulations to the National History Day team who were awarded top honors in their categories at Friday’s regional competition.  Anna Banas earned 2nd place in the individual documentary category, Luke Drago, Anna Scott, Mahith Edula, Jun Baxley, and Vinitha Sunkara earned first place in the team documentary category.  Good luck to you all at the state competition in April!

Congratulations to the Varsity Color Guard who performed at the International Mid-Atlantic Power Regional this past weekend at Winthrop University. With 32 groups in attendance from 7 states, our team finished 14th in finals on Sunday.  The AK Indoor Percussion group competed in Atlanta on Saturday against 14 groups. They made finals and placed 5th overall on Saturday night.  Last but not least, the Indoor Winds also competed in the Regional in Atlanta and had one of their best performances winning the winds division in preliminaries and finals.  All indoor groups will compete in their circuit championships this coming weekend. Go knights!

Attention all Spanish Honor Society Seniors!  If you wish to wear cords at graduation, you must order them as soon as possible through the online payment system on the Ardrey Kell Web Page. The cost is 10 dollars per cord. Please pay as soon as possible as the payment will come down on March 31st.

Attention Rho Kappa Seniors: the online payment system is now open for your Rho Kappa cords. Please pay your $10 dues by April 1st in order to receive your Rho Kappa cords for graduation.
