Attention all ESL students:  A Google Classroom page was created for all AK ESL students.  Check the page for information about important activities and academic resources.  An invitation was posted yesterday.  Please read the invitation and answer the questions on the Google Form.  In addition, attention ESL Ambassadors:  an invitation was also posted on Google Classroom for you.  Please read and respond to the invitation as soon as possible.  See Mrs. Windt if you have any questions.

Last night AK wrestling took on defending conference champs, Providence, winners of all knights/panthers competitions for the last 6 years. Starting off with an 18 to 0 deficit, your Knights put together quite the performance under the leadership of captains Jose Hernandez, Josh Stewart, Izzy Basquez, and John Yakoboski. With pins from Freshman Cooper Marshall, junior Cole Hepler, senior John Yakoboski, senior Frank Vera, senior Josh Stewart, and no contest victories from senior Izzy Basquez, senior Ish Williams, and Junior Issam Alzouby, your Knights rallied back to a 51 to 24 blowout victory. Great job, wrestlers!

AK Swimming began their season last night with two strong victories over Butler.  The final scores were:
WOMEN: 196  to 85 with Women's Event Winners: Lexie Handlin, Oceane Hangyas, Akshita Patil, Teresa Ivan, Gabriella Spina, Emily Brown, Anna Zagora, and Kali Cole and for the MEN: AK 222 to Butler 58 with Event Winners: Josh Fletcher, Jack Valiquette, Jason Lee, Sean Teague, Leo Tutovani, Will Bippus, and Austin Cummings.  Way to go, knights!  AK Diving kicks off their season Saturday in the CMS skills meet!  Good luck, aquaknights!

TOMORROW, students may arrive to school up to 15 minutes late to help the PTSO raise money to help pay for a police officer to direct traffic in the mornings. For $5, a student can arrive 5 minutes late, $10 to arrive 10 minutes late and $15 to arrive 15 minutes late. Take your time and bring in some cash.

Congrats to Senior Volleyball player Shannon Carney on being named the Hood Hargett Student-Athlete of the Month and recipient of the Liz Murray Scholarship! Shannon is the second from the Carney Family to receive this award (Kevin – Men’s Soccer Class of 2016). Great job Shannon!

This weekend, AK’s Model United Nations team competed in a national competition at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. Members worked to solve complex global problems of the past, present, and future. Congratulations to everyone who competed and a special congratulations to the following students who won awards: Bryden McGough, Kevin Lin, Anisha Reddy, Ethan Gandara, and Denali Termin. AK Model UN will be having an interest meeting for new members on Thursday at 2:30 in MC21. Hope you can make it!

In a wonderful day of rugby, the men’s team won the 1st place trophy for this weekend’s 7s tournament. Every player gave it their all to come away with an impressive outcome. Top try scorers were John Yakobowski, Scott Lobb, and Justin Anderson. Congrats to Sequoia Esposito, Davon Goldston and Jude Alsbinati on scoring their first rugby tries.  Way to go, knights!

JROTC is currently having a Toys For Tots drive. We are asking you to bring in an unwrapped toy for a child whose family may not be able to afford presents for Christmas this year. This is one small way you can give back to your community. You can drop off your unwrapped toy in the bins that are labeled Toys for Tots in the mall area. Thank you so much.
