Principal Philip Steffes
Principal Philip Steffes comes to Albemarle Road Elementary with a background in elementary teaching. Mr. Steffes has worked in CMS for 20 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. Mr. Steffes received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He returned to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a North Carolina Principal Fellow receiving a degree of Masters of School Administration with Curriculum Supervision credentials. Outside of school time Mr. Steffes enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys attending creative arts efforts.
Assistant Principal Dwight Thompson
Assistant Principal Dwight Thompson was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and grew up in Burlington, North Carolina. He attended The University of North Carolina at Greensboro to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. He then attended Pfeiffer University to earn a Master of Science in Elementary Education. He was then accepted into the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program (Class 18) and completed an additional Master of School Administration at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Assistant Principal Dwight Thompson comes to Albemarle Road Elementary with a background in teaching. He began his career with Guilford County Schools and then continued teaching in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Prior to joining Albemarle Road Elementary in July 2015, he served as an Assistant Principal in Union County Public Schools. Mr. Thompson enjoys reading, listening to music, and traveling with family and friends.
Assistant Principal Teresa Neely
Assistant Principal Teresa H. Neely is originally from Albemarle, NC. Ms. Neely attended Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC were she was an awarded a Bachelors in Elementary Education. Ms. Teresa H. Neely began her teaching career at J. H. Gunn in 1998. She served as 2nd and 3rd grade teacher for a decade. During her tenure at J.H. Gunn she became a National Board Certified Teacher (ECGEN), and one of CMS's model classroom teachers, a cooperating teacher and mentor to new and novice educators.
She was part of the National Writing Project from 1999 – 2005. In 2008 she was selected as a North Carolina Principal Fellow, and attended Western Carolina University. She has continued to serve the children of North Carolina through various leadership positions; NCDPI Secondary Charter School Principal, a NC New Principal Consultant, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Dean of Students, and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Assistant Principal. She joined the "Dream Team" at Albemarle Road Elementary in 2015 becoming their newest Assistant Principal. She proudly leads and supports the students, and community of Albemarle Road Elementary School. When Ms. Neely isn't at work she enjoys spending time with her husband Benny, and children Ben and Katie.
